Every Child Achieves

At Newfield we are committed to ensuring every child receives an education which enables them to grow as successful learners and members of our community.

We believe all children have an equal right to a broad and balanced education.

We understand children have different learning styles and learn at different paces. Our aim is to support all of our children to participate in all areas of school life – regardless of their individual need or starting point.

Support For All

We recognise some pupils will have special educational needs at some time in their school career. Many of these pupils may need help throughout their time with us, whilst others may need extra support for a short period to help overcome more temporary needs. At Newfield, we aim to provide all pupils with strategies for dealing with their needs in a supportive environment which gives them meaningful access to the National Curriculum.

Children who require this additional support will be placed on our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Register.  Click here to learn more about the process of being added to the SEND register here.

Children on the SEND Register have individual targets which focus on their next steps in learning.  Progress summaries are shared with parents regularly throughout the year.  Their progress is closely monitored through a process known as assess, plan, do, review.

Provision

All pupils have access to the curriculum. They are supported through high quality teaching and suitable adjustments that are personalised to each individual child. The school produces a whole school provision map to show levels of need and provision throughout the school. This is regularly monitored and updated following reviews and entry and exit from the SEND register. This provision map is updated three times a year as part of a review with all of the teaching staff. To find out more about the types of support we offer click here.
