Newfield Primary School Governors
Maranda Ikpeba - Co-Chair of Governors
My name is Maranda. I have been a Governor at Newfield since 2015. I started as a parent governor when my two children attended. I am now the Co-Chair of Governors. Previously I worked as an Executive Assistant in Entertainment Law and marketing where I organised people’s working lives, assisted with negotiating contracts, initiated projects and managed budgets. I am currently in the Health and Wellness Business. My background gives me the ability to appreciate the strategic priorities and vision that enable pupils from all backgrounds to reach their full potential and to contribute to and support the effective running of the school. I value my role as a governor and as a parent I am fully committed to assisting in providing the best educational outcomes for our pupils.
Kim Beat - Co-Chair of Governors
My name is Kim Beat and I was elected as a co-opted governor in September 2022. I am currently the co-chair of governors. I have worked in education for 45 years in the London Borough of Brent. I started as a primary teacher, then a Deputy Head and then onto headship of a large primary school. Following that I worked for Brent Local Authority as a School Improvement Advisor supporting a range of schools to improve. I missed the sense of the family of a school and returned to headship of a school that was in difficulty. When I finally retired, I was honoured to be asked to become a governor at Newfield. I have worked with the school in the past in a professional capacity and I am now proud to be part of the team striving to provide the best possible education for the children of Newfield.
Laura Williams - Parent Governor
My name is Laura and I've been a Parent Governor since Autumn 2017, with a son and daughter at the school. Prior to joining Newfield governing body, I was a governor at Donnington Primary School nearby. With a background in social research, I now work as a civil servant at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. My knowledge of public policy, public finance and the bigger picture help me to carry out my role as a governor, and to understand the issues and challenges that our school faces. As a parent I am proud to be part of the team striving to improve and enhance our children's school lives, and to contribute my time and energy to the strategic decisions that will make a difference to all children at the school.
